God speaks today,
Our ears can and will hear,
What God speaks transforms us,
As people listen to God it inspires others – Steve Klassen.
There are several ways God can speak to us. He has promised that we are His sheep and His sheep will surly hear His voice. First we see a relationship between God and His children. the only way we can hear and be familiar with God voice is when we take time with His word. His Word (scriptures) is one of the ways He speaks to us as His children. it is very difficult for those who do not have a relationship with God to hear His voice because, without a relationship intimacy can not be possible. Also the things of God or the ways of God is foolishness to those who do not know Him. ” The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught” Isaiah 50:4′
Another way we can hear God speak is by what He is doing around us. Steve Klassen examples this so wonderfully in his book titled ” Your Ears Will Hear” I quote him” Questions like” What is God doing in my life?” and ” How am i responding to him? ” have a way of tuning us in to how God is working and speaking in the very circumstances of our lives. Little coincidences are taken seriously. As God was very active in the story of Esther, even through his name is never mentioned in the book, his orchestrating hand is at work in our lives. Are we paying attention to what God is doing in the circumstances of our lives?
I remember some few years back while in Mexico. I was coming to an end of my missionary serve in Mexico and seeking God for the next Country He will be leading me to on my next assignment. I had always wanted to go to Europe but somehow, God and i just don’t agree with that yet. I heard within my spirit the country Canada, it was so strong within me and believe me, that is one of the ways God communicates with me. Oh mine, i was not pleased about this. Please get me right, i love Canada, most of the Canadians i met where very wonderful people. But my desire was to go to Europe. Anyway, i tried to convince God and give Him other options:) Reallyyyyy Raly???
While taking a walk some weeks later, i felt a strong nudge in my spirit to look down and pick up a leaf. I obeyed even though it did not make any sense to me, to do such. That leaf came home with me, as i set it on my dresser. Few days later, i was holding on to a Teddy Bear a friend gave to me and lo and behold, i noticed that on the chest of the teddy bear was the flag of a country which had a symbol of a leaf, the exact kind of leaf i picked up some few days ago. Now please do not be shocked if i tell you, i had no clue what county that flag represent. I had to ask my room mate if she knew what Country the flag represent. Behold she said the word “Canada”. Well that was it, God meant business, Canada you must go, Canada i came, Canada i love:). When God speaks, oftentimes His voice will call for an act of courage on our part-” Charles Stanley”. When we take those steps of courage and faith, we see God’s transforming power at work in us and through us.
God speaks through dreams and visions, community, prophets. We should make sure that what ever we do hear is in line with the word of God and prayerfully seek the Lord more on this. The enemy does speak and it very subtle and deceiving, prayer is so key when it comes to hearing from God and confirmation.
God also speaks through nature, silence and solitude. These is such an amazing way to hear His voice. Be still and know that i am God. In stillness we will see and know God. We will see Him move to action in such amazing and miraculously ways hallelujah, and we will also know this amazing Beautiful God, as He refreshes, renews, restores and strengthens our will to be in agreement with His , our emotions to be controlled by the fruit of His Holy Spirt and our mind to be like that of Christ Jesus.
There are several ways God speaks for He can not be put in a box. He is God!
