Our God is such an incredible personalty, in the real sense of it there are no words to accurately describe Him but all we do is to try with the help of the Spirit and the availability of the scriptures to paint a picture of him on the canvas of our hearts.
The God of the universe is beyond anyone’s experience hence why we need to keep discovering Him.
It’s interesting to know that after God created the heavens and the earth, he made man on the sixth day and then looked at the man whom he’s made in his image and said to him: ” be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.” (Gen.1:28)
God’s first word or communication to man wasn’t laws, neither was it rules rather it’s a blessing- the blessing of Fruitfulness. It’s so urgent and burning in the heart of the Father that He uttered His thoughts to him(Adam and Eve).
Though it’s not long after this pronouncement that the devil came and introduced sin to Adam and it looked like God’s changed His mind but fast forward to Noah the eighth person from Adam, God showed that He’s still committed to man’s fruitfulness(Gen.9:1)
The good news today is this, God is still committed to His word because the Psalmist helps us to understand that:” Forever O Lord your word is settled in the heavens”.
God wants you as person to be fruitful and when you’re fruitful, you can then multiply in that fruitfulness.
Farmers understand fruitfulness better because it’s a practical vocation. Farmers can’t wait to see the yields their efforts produces at the end of the season.
What exactly was on God’s mind when He says Be fruitful?
I believe God’s put a seed in man that has the capability of bringing forth a yield, a result. We’re programmed to get results. Every human being is by default a fruitful tree. God looks forward to seeing Individuals produce gems, songs, paintings, books, sounds, technologies, drawings, poetry, designs, prints etc such that will bring glory to him and beauty to our world.
Above all the greatest fruits to produce as children of the living God is the fruit of the Holy Spirit of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
This year, God’s reminding us to be fruitful and not be fruitless!
As ministers, missionaries, and as christians we must look down deep and ensure we bring forth fruits to honour our Father and to bring value and virtue to this decaying world.
Jesus said: You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, that you should bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should abide…” Jn.15:16
Let’s go bring forth fruit i.e be result oriented this year. Win souls, touch lives, refine your skills and abilities. Don’t be fruitless this year because He’s pronounced his blessing of Fruitfulness on you.
