Missionaries in Gambia

We are missionaries stationed in Memmeh Village, Jokadou District. We work amongst wollof and manjago tribes of Gambia. I am from idol worshipping background before God saved me by his mercy.

One of the challenges we had, when invited to this Soul Care Retreat was where do we keep our children. God saw this need of or heart alongside our need to come for this Soul Care Retreat. He did use the Co-ordinator of Reflecting His Beauty Ministries in Gambia[Pastor and Mrs Joseph] to provide child care support for our kids, So my wife and i can have those days of being alone. We are so thankful for this.

We learnt a lot during this Retreat, prayers, exhortations as a group, one on one and alone with the Lord. I must commend the location of the retreat, the food, the drinks and snacks where all so refreshing.

Seek the Kingdom of God first and all will be added God says. Glory be to God. Thanks to God and Reflecting His Beauty Team.

I've been in missions since 2014, the first 3 years were about training in missions and also in linguistics. The way I am serving the Lord, now, is helping other missionaries with learning the languages of their villages (triqui, mixteco (differente dialects), huichol and others). I visit them in the communities were they live and receive their progress reports. Also, I am visiting and learning the mixtec of San Pedro el Alto; a small village that is 2 hours from Tlaxiaco. All these villages are located in Mexico.

This Soul Care Retreat is such a blessing to me and i want to thank God and Reflecting His Beauty Ministries for organizing this. Many times we go on the fast pace and we find it difficult to slow down. During this Soul Care Retreat my understanding was opened to the great importance of slowing down, staying still and be calm. I am emotional now and short of words. God Love me, He loves me, He loves us and He is a good Father. I had more that still time to reflect and listen more to Him. He is making me strong in being and doing what He desires for me in this last days. Thank You Lord.

I should also say, i got to enjoy some meals i had always desired.

I have being a missionary for 14 years in Honduras, Garifunas, Cuba and Mexico. I am currently serving in a village called Maasai Land in Kenya. There i and other missionaries serve in the areas of discipleship, church planting, child evangelism, medical caravans, social assistance. We also host Bible Vacation Schools for children.

As much as i love to serve, i also did know i needed some rest, a set aside time alone with God and the care of my soul. So i prayed and said "" Lord will you please provide rest for me" Little did i know God had a surprise waiting for me as i got into Mexico. I never expected that all expenses will be paid for some days of rest for me, but God indeed surprised me. How much the Lord loves me! Through out the three days Soul Care Retreat, i had such a restful time. The joy of just being alone with the Lord and being ministered to, nothing else can compare. My Soul, Body and Spirit are indeed blessed.

We are missionaries served at Farafenni ,North Bank Region before relocating to Suma village on transfer. Madinkas, Jolas and Wollof people are the major dwellers of our host community. It has not been easy but we praise God for life and progress so far in ministry.

We deeply appreciate God and Reflecting His Beauty Ministries for putting this wonderful retreat together to bless rural missionaries. We have never attended any like it.

Everything about it is just wonderful. We were fed spiritually and physically like Elijah at the brook in 1 Kings 17:6.

We have gained so much to keep and share with others.

It had being some few years that i had taken days away all by myself to rest. I want to thank all those who are part of the ministry "Reflecting His Beauty" for the support they gave me to spend time caring for my soul and being cared for.

These days were truly a blessing that i enjoyed to the maximum. Personally, during this time I disconnected from work and the overwhelming burdens, and I proposed to resting. As we say in Mexico “recharging the batteries (getting new strengths)” to continue in the missionary work.

But most important of all, i took advantage of this time to be in the presence of God. Receiving clear direction, re-affirmation on knowing if i am still in God will, in-order to avoid being out of His will and committing some unnecessary internal and external errors. There were lots of inner issues to present before the Lord.

Missionaries in Nigeria

Having this Soul Care Retreat was very timely for us as a couple. We recognize that God has seen our need for relive and this meditative rest from the hazel of our daily ministry, activities and concerns.

More than ever before we will have to recon with this, so that we can recoup and launch out again with greater productive energy for God. We were also able to recognize our lingering personal need before God. We want to thank Reflecting His Beauty Ministries once again for reminding us that even God rested after He had worked. After each day work was a brief rest and after a major task was a major rest. God took time to rest and if He did we should, for He did to set an example for us.
