The truth is some ministers of the gospel have passed away before their time, because they have overlooked/ignored the care of their bodies. They tend to keep spending and spending their bodies for the work of the Lord and have not being wise/sensitive enough to know that the human body was made to rest and be cared for.
Hence there is a break down. Some sicknesses, diseases are developed and sometimes leads to untimely death.
Some sicknesses and disease or untimely death could have being avoided if proper care is given to the human body and we do not spiritualize what is not.
The care of our bodies are vital to our existence here on earth. God gave us bodies we are called to be good stewards of. We are called to honor God with out bodies, for it is an act of worship to the Lord.
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 1 Corinthians 6:19
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Romans 12:1
In the words of Halleluyah Ajayi i quote " As the body without the spirit is dead..." James 2:26
The body houses the soul and the spirit. Our thoughts, feelings, faith, power, anointing, gifts can't find expression without our physical body, and every minister of the gospel must know this fact. This is so crucial because even demons are always looking for bodies to house them in other to find expression.
Your body is what gives you legitimacy to stay in this terrestrial realm, hence taking care of the soma (body) is very vital otherwise we'll be dead! Healthy living such as eating healthy foods, exercise, adequate rest, sleep, mental activities and feeding on the word are vital in caring for the body. Paul tells us that 'bodily exercise profits a little..' Do general check up (BMI, blood pressure, etc). Drink more water and less soda, go organic, eat fruits often and stay healthy."
I remember praying " Lord do i have to exercise to stay fit, why can't i just pray fit?" Well, i found myself ending up exercising.
